Last week I went to a creator retreat in the UK.

2 days with all kinds of other content creators who either making content on the side of a job or have a really successful creator business.

There were workshops, ice baths, a breathwork session and great conversations all round.

It was run by Creator Leaders, which is an amazing community to join if you're a creator in the UK.

They host lots of in person dinners, events and retreats throughout the year.

But one YouTuber I met really stood out to me:

SpookyLuke.

He teaches people how to get better at the video game Rocket League.

During part of the retreat we did some workshops where each of us shared a big problem we were facing in the business.

And in Luke's session, he revealed that he was making $100k/month...

Teaching...

Rocket league?

Did I hear that right Luke?

How do...where do...

What!

The online world never ceases to amaze me. How incredible is that.

So when I got home, I checked out his channel with 500k subscribers, and shock horror, he was doing all the basics incredibly well on his channel.

• He picked something he loved and could talk about for years (he's been making videos for over 5 years on Rocket League)
• His videos were packaged well for his audience, and the content was engaging and fun to watch
• And he'd chosen a monetisation strategy appropriate for his audience size and profile: a monthly membership.

To bring this to life, I just want to zoom in on the video intro for one of his latest videos which has 49k views:

Title: 7 Amazing Rocket League Mechanics No One Does

• Most players grind the same few mechanics over and over. That's fine, but it makes training feel boring and your improvement slows.
• Today, I'm giving you seven mechanics you've probably never seriously practiced.
• And these aren't freestyler gimmicks. They're time-tested, pro-validated, and I practice them every week.

What an intro. So crisp. And the b-roll over the top really brings it to life. It doesn't even matter I can't tell what half the words mean.

1. He confirms the title and thumbnail quickly ✅
2. He teases the rest of the video, and shares necessary context ✅
3. He highlights his credibility and why you should listen to him ✅

You could practically copy and paste that for any niche on YouTube, tweak the language to suit you and it would work.

So what's the point here?

A few things:

• Making great educational videos looks pretty similar across lots of niches.
• If you want to make more money, stop trying to reinvent the wheel. Make your videos better and commit to 1 offer that you can sell to your audience.
• If you know how to play rocket league, maybe you can make $1m.
