I got 88,000 views on YouTube in the last 28 days.

I'm pretty chuffed, because before that, it was about 5-10x less.

So things are looking up, and I want to share a few things that changed.

Yes, consistency is key. I've posted 34 videos in 33 weeks so far this year.

Obviously my YouTube channel wouldn't have grown without posting videos....

BUT, a few things have contributed to the improved results recently.

My content has not really changed that much in the past month.

The vast majority of growth has come from more people choosing to watch my videos, not them watching for longer.

Essentially, my video topics, titles and thumbnails have appealed to more people.

A few differences between them:

• The thumbnails feel new and premium, especially yesterday's one. If I had a huge audience, the bottom 4 thumbnails would perform ok, but given I'm trying to blow up the channel, I needed to put more effort into making things feel different. This space is crowded, so I needed to stand out somehow.
• The thumbnail design has actually taken a lot longer. That's not always a golden bullet, because I already felt we were putting time into it, but the concepts weren't good enough. If you get it right though, making your thumbnail feel new and different can be one of the fastest ways to blow up your channel (if you want help with this, more info below).
• The titles have had bigger and broader value propositions, which I've delivered on. Sometimes if you want to grow on YouTube, you have to make bigger promises and find a way to deliver on it.
• Social & Trend Hacking - this is big. Audience interests shift all the time, and trying to make stuff that feels relevant right now is one of the fastest ways to grow. But I wasn't doing enough of it. So I've tried using recognisable faces in the thumbnails, more trending thumbnail formats like the whiteboard, talking about AI etc. It's easy to overlook this stuff, but it's such a big part of the content game.

And there's one final secret I've kept up my sleeve too.

• Make your videos feel new/different in your space on YouTube
• Leverage social and trend hacking
• Make better thumbnails
• Get help from others, feedback is critical
